Jan was born in Virginia and currently lives in the country on 10 acres. She loves nature, wildlife, and photography. Jan's passion for wildlife shows in her artwork as she captures the animals in their environment. She likes to capture an animal's expression, personality, or intense stare by creating details that enhance the encounter. In October of 2014, Jan attended an unforgettable artist retreat workshop in Minnesota. Jan attended a workshop with Jan Martin McGuire, Wildlife Artist and Conservationist, James Gary Hines II, Wildlife Photographer, and Robert Caldwell, Wildlife Artist. At the workshop, Jan connected with other artists and made life-long friendships. Her connection with the animals changed her life in many ways. It has sparked a new journey doing what she loves every day. Jan loved the experience of holding a fox and receiving a warm, welcomed kiss, that was very heart-felt.
Her goal is to become a part of wildlife conservation. Jan has contributed to the local ARK (Area Rehabbers Klub), a non-profit organization for wildlife rehab. Jan has also donated to the Richmond Prom Mom Event that benefits the JDRF, a foundation with a solid plan to create a world without Type 1 Diabetes. Donations include Ten Thousand Villages in Carytown, Paws for a Cause, Noah's Children of Richmond, Tanzania Light Illumination Project.
Jan enjoyed having the chance to hold a very playful and curious raccoon. All the animals are tame and loved by the handlers at Wildlife Connections. This gives
individuals an opportunity to see up close and personal the beautiful animals and their personalities. A very uplifting, rewarding experience that will last a lifetime of
Africa Safari Adventure in 2016 proved to be a life changing event. See Jan's Africa Adventure Click Here.
